Denver Web Design Review – Freshbooks.com

Hi.  I have used FreshBooks in the past.  It is a good product.

In this blog post, I am going to review their web design and give feedback on specific criteria.  Enjoy!

Denver Web Design Criteria #1- Get attention

The headline is great…"Focus on your work, not your paperwork."

Denver Web Design Criteria #2 – Identify the problem

FreshBook's pain trigger is that it is more important to get paid than to work on reporting.

Denver Web Design Criteria #3 – Present your credentials

The endorsements from PC Magazine, Forbes, and CNET are great.

Denver Web Design Criteria #4 – Show the benefits

Below the credentials, there are 6 different benefits clearly presented.

Denver Web Design Criteria #5 – Give social proof

Below the benefits, are several different customer testimonials.

Denver Web Design Criteria #6 – Make your offer/Call to Action

The offer is very clear…"Try It Free For 30 Days"

Denver Web Design Criteria #7 – Give a guarantee

There is no guarantee, but they offer a free trial.  In addition, the service starts at $19.95…so the economic risk is pretty small.

Denver Web Design Review – Overall Thoughts

In general, I would give Freshbooks.com an "A" for their design.  This is one of the best direct response websites I've seen in awhile. :)

Insight Into Facebook Ads

Denver PPC Insights – Facebook Ads

denver ppc

In 2007, Facebook launched its ads division.  At first, Denver PPC by KCC stayed away from Facebook Ads; the interface was clunky and Facebook was slow to approve ads.  Now it is different…

Denver PPC by KCC has experimented with Facebook PPC ads a ton over the last year.  I'm going to share my insights…

  1. B2B vs B2C – I think Facebook ads work better for B2C than B2B.  Still I recommend that ALL companies should be active on Facebook, but you should have realistic expectations going into the process.
  2. Testing Is Key – You need to create various ads and test headlines, images, copy, etc.
  3. Demographic Targeting – The targeting feature on Facebook Ads is much more intuitive than on Google AdWords…at least for me. :)
  4. Lead Capture – Regardless of your market, you need to makes your fan page has a squeeze page component…otherwise you are wasting time and money.  It is not always reasonable to promote offers on Facebook, but you should capture leads.
  5. "Likes" – Make sure you ask people for a Like, and then an opt-in.
  6. Budget – If you are not prepared to test $2k, don't bother with ads.  It takes money to make money.
  7. Targeting – When placing an ad, I've had better luck sending traffic to my Facebook Fan Page than my business website.

Social Media Traffic

Does Social Media Drive Traffic?

-The Truth About Social Media-

When I work with clients, I advocate a balanced approach for driving traffic.

One of big principles of financial investing is diversification.  Website traffic should be diversified to avoid concentration risk, as well.

Facebook and Twitter are typically my 3rd, 4th, or 5th traffic sources after SEO, PPC, and direct traffic.

Want Some Proof?

This is a snapshot from my Google Analytics account for fitnessfortennis.comSocial media traffic represents 16.63% of the traffic to this website.

Additional Thoughts

Social media traffic is different than SEO or PPC traffic.  These prospects are looking to have a conversation and learn more.  They aren't generally hot prospects.

Regardless, they are an important element of the lead nurturing process and have to be considered in a comprehensive online marketing campaign.

What Are You Doing With Your Online Traffic?

Lead Gen 101: What Is Your Conversion Goal?

lead gen

I get calls and emails daily from friends asking me to take a look at their website.  I looked at one a couple of weeks ago that got my attention.

Lead Gen Gone Wild!

This site had 3 opt-in forms above the fold…one for provider locations and two free reports.  What was I supposed to do?

Yes, this site clearly has conversion goals…but it is too much.  I was confused about what I was supposed to do.

In short, remember your lead gen funnel should have 1 conversion that is consistently supported on your site.

Cheers!

-K
