Denver Web Design Review – Freshbooks.com

Hi.  I have used FreshBooks in the past.  It is a good product.

In this blog post, I am going to review their web design and give feedback on specific criteria.  Enjoy!

Denver Web Design Criteria #1- Get attention

The headline is great…"Focus on your work, not your paperwork."

Denver Web Design Criteria #2 – Identify the problem

FreshBook's pain trigger is that it is more important to get paid than to work on reporting.

Denver Web Design Criteria #3 – Present your credentials

The endorsements from PC Magazine, Forbes, and CNET are great.

Denver Web Design Criteria #4 – Show the benefits

Below the credentials, there are 6 different benefits clearly presented.

Denver Web Design Criteria #5 – Give social proof

Below the benefits, are several different customer testimonials.

Denver Web Design Criteria #6 – Make your offer/Call to Action

The offer is very clear…"Try It Free For 30 Days"

Denver Web Design Criteria #7 – Give a guarantee

There is no guarantee, but they offer a free trial.  In addition, the service starts at $19.95…so the economic risk is pretty small.

Denver Web Design Review – Overall Thoughts

In general, I would give Freshbooks.com an "A" for their design.  This is one of the best direct response websites I've seen in awhile. :)

Website Review – Mozy

Denver Web Design Review – Mozy.com

Hi.  I am a customer of Mozy.com, and I am very happy with their product and service.

In this blog post, I am going to review their web design and give feedback on specific areas that are critical for converting online traffic into sales.  Enjoy!

denver web design

Denver Web Design Criteria #1- Get attention

The first thing I look for is a headline and sub-headline that captures attention.  Mozy has a rotating 6 page Jqwery slide show that does this well.

Denver Web Design Criteria #2 – Identify the problem

Mozy's pain trigger is pretty clear: data loss; they do a good job with this.

Denver Web Design Criteria #3 – Present your credentials

Mozy is a little thin here, I would suggest they redesign the page to include some, "as seen on…" or other forms of credentials.

Denver Web Design Criteria #4 – Show the benefits

The Jqwery slides are packed with benefits for small business owners and individuals.  Mozy does a great job with this. :)

Denver Web Design Criteria #5 – Give social proof

Though Mozy has social proof in the slides, I would like to see a place above the fold where they show logos of featured clients or rotating round of testimonials.

Denver Web Design Criteria #6 – Make your offer/Call to Action

Mozy clearly makes an offer, as "Sign up for Mozy."  I think the copy is weak, but the button is green for "GO," and it is prominently displayed.

Denver Web Design Criteria #7 – Give a guarantee

Mozy flunks on this one.  They could give a 24-hour phone support guarantee or something.  A guarantee is critical for risk reversal.

Denver Web Design Review – Overall Thoughts

In general, I would give Mozy.com a "B" for their design.  I give them kudos for the clean design and above-the-fold design.

Here is what needs to be improved in their web design…

  • Credentials
  • Social proof
  • Guarantee

Keyword Research

by admin on October 21st, 2011

The First Step To SEO Is Good Keyword Research

seo

Denver SEO – 5 Keyword Research Tips

Step 1 – Study Your Competition

Create a list of your top 5 SEO competitors.  For example, I own fitnessfortennis.com.  The three largest traffic sources in the the "tennis" market are:

  1. tennis-warehouse.com
  2. usta.com
  3. tennis.com

Step 2 – Analyze Your Competition

Use Google Keyword Tool to look at what your SEO competition is doing.

  1. Go to: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
  2. Enter your competitors url
  3. Create a list of any keywords that relate to your business

Step 3 – Analyze Your List

Use Google Keyword Tool to see the SEO traffic of your keywords.

  1. Go to the left column and change the Match Types from "Broad" to "[Exact]".  This will show you how many searches there are for your respective keyword.
  2. Update your list with this info
  3. You are going to want to keep anything with 300 or more monthly keyword searches

Step 4 – SEO Keyword Selection

This last step is very important, so pay close attention.

  1. Go to Google Adwords and put in your keywords.  Keep any keywords that have a CPC (cost per click), of $2 or less.
  2. Go to Google.com and search for your keyword like this: "keyword".  Keep anything with less than 300,000 results.
  3. This should give you list of keywords that are related to your business, have relevant traffic, and are not overly competitive.

Step 5 – Double check your work

One additional step that I recommend is that you double check your work with a paid tool, such as Market Samurai or SEMRush.  I own both, and they significantly cut down on the keyword research time.

+++++

In conclusion, keyword research is the foundation of SEO.  Be prepared to spend time and resources on this or hire a specialist to do it for you.  It is that important!

Denver Web Design Review – What Is Hasoffers.com

Hasoffers.com is an affiliate tracking SAS provider based out of Seattle, Washington.  They provide a low-cost, low footprint affiliate tracking solutions for direct marketers and online businesses.

Denver Web Design Review – What I like about their design?

  • Clean design – the design is very clean and clear.  Nice!
  • Customer problem – The problem is well identified…affiliate tracking is hard.
  • Solution – The solutions is clear…3 easy steps.
  • Features & benefits – These details are spelled out near the bottom of the page.
  • Call to action – "Start Now"
  • Guarantee/risk-reversal – The 1 month free is a good way to reverse risk.
  • Proof – "Clients…" shows who is using the product

Denver Web Design Review – What I didn't like?

My main issue with this page, is that I have to scroll down to get a lot of the info.  Specifically, the features and proof are below the fold.  Denver web design by KCC recommends that the sales letter features should be above the fold.

Denver Web Design – Overall reaction

Hasoffers.com was started by affiliate marketers for affiliate marketers.  They know their sh*t!  My guess is that they've tested this site a bunch, and it converts.

Denver web design by KCC is going to review this site further!
